All subsequent pressings of /Make Believe/ contain the bastardized single version of "Perfect Situation."" Please note in the article that the new version of Perfect Situation still features the FULL instrumental version. Perfect Miscommunication JR wrote: "During the 2005 Foozer tour, Cuomo made it a point to explain to the audience that the butchered and re-arranged "Perfect Situation" was now - you guessed it - the new "official" version (and if they'd be so kind as to sing along to "Perfect Situation 2.0" instead.). Hope this clears matters up for you! - JR Consequently, any copy of The Green Album with the new "Hash Pipe" features no track over three minutes long. Secondly, to the best of my recollection, the uncut version of "Hash Pipe" is longer than three minutes, while the revised cut is not. The first chorus of the bastardized version is cut off at the halfway point, making "I've got my ass wide" its final line. In the original version, Cuomo sings the complete first chorus before launching into the second verse "I've got my hash pipe" is the last line in the chorus. There are two ways to ensure your version of "Hash Pipe" is the original, unadulterated cut. Thanks for saving me from the crazy house! - Joe We here at IGN Music pride ourselves on keeping the population of America's mental institutions at manageable levels. Finally, how will I know if my version of Hash Pipe is the unabridged and not the s#!+ one? I don't know when my dad bought our copy of Green. I bought Make Believe the Sunday it came out and when I went back when I heard the changes- On all copies of the booklet, the lyrics are "Plane, Same", not "Drugs, Enough". And for We Are All On Drugs- Apparently, the first version was a mistake. Then the chorus was butchered, and I cried. When "Perfect Situation" went single, I saw the vid. I Am Sane Afterall! Finally, I can prove to myself I am just as sane as everyone else, thanks to you.
(There is, thankfully, only one version.) - JR Check out "Longtime Sunshine" for a sampling of the man's best solo work.
None are commercially available, mind you, but they have been disseminated free and legally over the Internet. Cuomo has released several under-the-radar solo recordings over the years. New fans who become acquainted with Weezer in February 2006 deserve all the quality and enjoyment accorded to those who caught the train in 1994, as do folks such as I who are often forced to replace damaged or overused CDs. Jason Zwink I don't agree that "early adopters" deserve exclusive access to the original version of a song, regardless of its quality relative to a subsequent "definitive" version. It's a shame that Beverly Hills becomes their biggest hit when something like Tired of Sex should have done that sort of sells. Until he gets the creative fire to revisit the instrumentation of Blue or Pinkerton.he'll crank out cookie cutter albums with the boys for years to come. The problem is that the last three records have shown that he is very comfortable with doing the easy, label-friendly path.
I do see Rivers as the type of guy to go Billy Corgan and do a solo thing possibly. More than likely, you'll have that first pressing with the original mix. I do agree with you that Perfect Situation got the worst deal out of these edits, but that's the cool thing about being a fan. Where there used to be a big market for CD singles that would usually have multiple cuts of the song.that time has passed. Basically what it amounts to is all the songs you mentioned got radio edits and most likely Rivers has decided those are the definitive versions for future releases. I'm not too worried or bothered about Rivers' (or potentially Geffen's) changes to songs and repressings of those discs. =W= ID number 11 after the recent reset of the fanclub. Be sure to rip your heart to your computer's hard drive, if it hasn't been ripped out already. I'm glad to hear "Perfect Situation" remains, to you, inviolate. the original "perfect situation" will live on in my heart It was my pleasure to voice my displeasure. Thank you for a terrific article that brings this travesty into the public eye. fans who don't know what they're purchasing anymore. Now i'm even further crazed that they would have the nerve to switch up versions in the album in a sneaky manner to deceive their loyal fans. But when I first saw the "Perfect Situation" video and discovered they had mutilated the BEST song on their album, i was outraged. I didnt mind either since both were really good. This is without question the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard happen in music! I knew about the two different "Keep Fishin" versions, but I just figured one was slightly changed to become a single. Totally Ridiculous! Hey, I just read your article on Weezer's rehashing of songs and then changing the albums that have already been released.
